10 Events to Celebrate the Holidays This Fall and Winter

1. National Railroad Museum: The Great Pumpkin Train

October 14 and October 21, 2017

Celebrate the fall season with your family at the National Railroad Museum’s Great Pumpkin Train event. From live entertainment, to games and crafts, have a fun-filled family adventure, rain or shine! Ride the train to the pumpkin patch where you can find your own pumpkin to bring home with you. Be sure to stop by the arts and crafts area while you’re there – Unison is a proud sponsor!

2. 9th Annual Soup Walk

October 21, 2017

College Avenue and Riverfront Area, Appleton, WI

Stroll down College Avenue in Downtown Appleton and along the riverfront to taste the signature autumn soups of local restaurants. Enjoy the crisp fall day with savory soups and stews at the 9th Annual Soup Walk from 1:00 to 4:30 pm.

3. National Railroad Museum: The Polar Express

November 17 – December 3, 2017

2285 S. Broadway, Green Bay, WI

Head to the National Railroad Museum to enjoy the two-hour Polar Express program. From watching the Hot Chocolate dance to listening to a theatrical reading of the original Polar Express book, enjoy a popular and merry holiday tradition. Be sure to check out the activities during your time at the event, brought to you by Unison.

4. 10th Annual Festival Foods Turkey Trot

Multiple Fox Cities Locations

Kick off Thanksgiving Day with exercise and fun at the 10th Annual Festival Foods Turkey Trot. Participants can choose between a timed 5-mile run or an untimed 2-mile walk to benefit the Boys & Girls Club and YMCA in communities that Festival Foods serves. Find a location nearest you to join.

5. National Railroad Museum: Festival of Trees

November 16 – December 31, 2017

2285 S. Broadway, Green Bay, WI

Discover beautifully-decorated trees amongst historic trains at the Lenfestey Center during the holiday season. Tickets to the Festival of Trees are just $5 per person. Unison is excited to be the presenting sponsor of this event.

6. Downtown Appleton Christmas Parade

November 21, 2017

College Avenue, Appleton, WI

Prepare to be dazzled at Downtown Appleton’s annual Christmas Parade that brings in over 80,000 spectators. This year’s theme is “Our Wish for The Season: Peace, Joy & Harmony,” and will feature over 80 floats, decorated vehicles, and more. The parade showcases approximately 20 marching bands from Northeastern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan schools.

7. WPS Garden of Lights

November 24 – December 30, 2017

2600 Larsen Road, Green Bay, WI

Experience the magic of more than 250,000 glimmering lights this winter at the Garden of Lights. From the over-the-top botanical themed light displays to the enchanted icicle forest, enjoy this spectacular event by foot or horse-drawn wagon.

8. Small Business Saturday

November 25, 2017

Head to your city’s downtown and shop local this holiday season to support the small businesses in your community. Small Business Saturday is aimed to turn shoppers’ focus towards unique in-town shops to help grow and add to the character of the community.

9. Electric City Christmas Parade

December 5, 2017

Wisconsin Avenue, Kaukauna, WI

Discover your holiday spirit at the annual Electric City Christmas Parade featuring holiday themed floats and participation from local community organizations and businesses, including Unison! Stop by Old City Hall after the parade for cookies and hot chocolate with Santa.

If you’re looking to escape the crowds, check out the Little Chute holiday parade on Monday, November 27, and keep an eye out for the Unison team.

10. Grignon Mansion Christmas Tours

Kaukauna, December 1-3 and 8-10, 2017

1313 Augustine Street, Kaukauna, WI

Learn about 1848’s Christmas traditions at the Grignon Family Mansion in Kaukauna. Enjoy a candlelight tour after dark, live holiday choir music, crafts, cookie decorating, and samples of traditional wassail (hot spiced cider) and milk punch (eggnog). Hop on-board one of the horse-drawn carriages proudly supported by Unison.
