With the recently enacted Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation
Act of 2010 (H.R. 4872), the Federal Family Educational Loan (FFEL) Program has
been eliminated. Private lenders, like Unison Credit Union, no longer have a role
in originating or funding federal Stafford, PLUS or Consolidation loans. Beginning
July 1, 2010, all new federal student loans will be issued via the William D. Ford
Direct Loan Program. Contact your school's financial aid office for more information.

Unison Credit Union will continue to service current loans held here. For questions
or service related to an existing FFEL loan secured through Unison, contact our
chosen servicer, Great Lakes, by phone at 1-800-236-4300 or online at www.mygreatlakes.org.
Although Unison is no longer able to fund or originate federal student loans, we
are exploring the possibilities of offering a student loan program in the future.
Until that time, we still have other options available to help you pay for college
expenses.
Home Equity Loans and Home Equity Lines of Credit
Home equity loans and home equity lines of credit use the equity in your home as
collateral. Your home equity is the part of your home that you actually own and
this is the guarantee for your loan. You can use the equity to pay for college expenses
while enjoying the benefits of a low interest rate.

Unsecured Loans
An unsecured loan, also known as a personal loan, is a loan that is not backed by
collateral like a vehicle or home. This type of loan will give you a fixed interest
rate and payment. Having a fixed payment and payment schedule can be helpful when
budgeting for college expenses.
